Report coutesy of Kelly Gilchrist @ Halifax Town

FC Halifax Town's new Manager Jim Vince and his assistant Nigel Jemson were warmly welcomed by the Club's supporters prior to the kick off of tonight's friendly against Bury FC at The Shay.90 minutes later the team received similar warm applause for their efforts which saw them push their opponents from 4 divisions higher all the way and they can consider themselves unlucky not to have won the game.

Bury won the game 1 v 0 courtesy of Ricky Anane's 28th minute goal but The Shaymen pushed them all the way in front of 1036 spectators. The Shakers keeper Cameron Belford was far busier than either Craig Mawson or Phil Senior and on another evening Town would have won the game comfortably. But tonight wasn't about the result with form and fitness at this stage of pre season being important and every player excelled during their only pre season appearance at The Shay.

Adam Morning rattled the woodwork with a 30 yarder that had Belford stranded as early as the 6th minute then Ben Jones shot over from a narrow angle as The Shaymen made the early running.Jones narrowly missed the target minutes later and was in the action shortly afterwards when he received a long punt from Mawson, held off a challenge from Ex Shayman Ryan Cresswell and only just missed the target.

Brian Barry-Murphy hit the post from 25 yards then set up the games only goal against the run of play when he surged into the penalty area on the right and his low cross was stabbed home at the near post by Anane.

Stephen Dawson fired over for the visitors when well placed then a Neil Ross header brought another save from Belford and the half ended with a single goal lead for Bury.

A series of substitutions from both teams failed to interrupt the flow of the second half.Dorryl Proffitt had a shot blocked on the hour mark then a surging run from midfield by the impressive Ross Clegg failed to deliver the goal it deserved with a double save from Belford.

The FC Halifax Town players received a deserved ovation at the final whistle and the Club's attentions now turn to Saturday's game away to Alsager Town.
